2. September 18, 2008: International Christian Embassy in Jerusalem Petition delivered September 18, 2008 to United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon signed by over 55,000 Christians from more than 120 countries worldwide demanding that Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad be indicted for incitement to genocide against Israel.
3. September 19, 2008: The United States Commission on International Religious Freedom sent this powerful letter Friday to the leadership of Religions for Peace, the American Friends Service Committee, Mennonite Central Committee, Quaker United Nations Office, and World Council of Churches-United Nations Liaison Office to protest their invitation to Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to take part in a “dialogue” on “the significance of religious contributions to peace.”
The U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom is urging five religious organizations to cancel a Sept. 25 dinner with Iran’s president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, in conjunction with his visit to the United Nations…..
NEW YORK, Sept 22, 2008 /PRNewswire-USNewswire via COMTEX/ — Ronald S. Lauder: “This man is not a suitable partner for religious dialogue”
The head of the World Jewish Congress has expressed outrage at the decision of five Christian groups to host Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad at a dinner in New York…..
Ronald S. Lauder, president of the World Jewish Congress, said: “These organizations, who present themselves as altruistic and who have global influence, are promoting the world’s foremost supporter of terrorism and an egregious violator of human rights….
Lauder added: “These groups, who claim to hold up values such as peace and mutual understanding, make a mockery of themselves by shamelessly providing a cruel dictator and racist with a platform for his invective. There is no purpose in dignifying him. The World Council of Churches, the Quakers and the other sponsors of the event in New York have a long and distressing record of demonizing Israel. With their bow to Ahmadinejad, they have brazenly chosen a racist dictator as their friend.” —more
At a time when so many Jews and Christians around the world face persecution for their faith, including those in Iran, this “celebration” with a man who leads the charge against religious freedom is outrageous, unacceptable and should not be tolerated. I am opposed to this meeting and certainly would implore these religious leaders to demand that this new apostasy law be rescinded if they insist on a meeting with Ahmadinejad. Appeasement did not work in the lead up to World War II and appeasing Ahmadinejad will not work here either….more
NEW YORK, Sept. 22 (UPI) — A scheduled New York event meant to honor Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is “obscene,” Catholic League President Bill Donohue said Monday. The religious leader called on his supporters to attend a rally…
“Catholics need to stand with their Jewish brothers and sisters in protesting this obscene event. Ahmadinejad is a menace to freedom-loving people the world over, and the sight of religious groups embracing him is nauseating,” Donohue said. “The Catholic League is proud to take part in this rally and we encourage people of all religious groups to have a contingent represent them on Thursday evening.” — more
…Sadly the sense of urgency in Mrs. Palin’s speech is missing from other quarters. A panel last week at George Washington University featured five former state secretaries. All agreed that the next president must start talking to Iran without preconditions….
What will Mr. Ahmadinejad make of it while supping with the Quaker lobby at the Iftar dinner scheduled in Mr. Ahmadinejad’s honor Thursday at the Hyatt Hotel on 42nd Street?…–more

One of the featured keynote speakers was Nihad Awad, Founder and Executive Director of the Council on American Islamic Relations. CAIR is an unindicted co-conspirator in the Holy Land Foundation trial (newly re-started) on funding for terrorism. The Investigative Project reports reports extensively on Nihad Awad’s background as a supporter of Hamas, with strong evidence that Awad opposes Israel and does not support U.S. peace initiatives in the region. Before founding CAIR, Awad was public relations director for the Islamic Association for Palestine (IAP) in 1993 and 1994. Review their entire excellent 10-part series on CAIR; below is an excerpt from their profile on Hyatt keynote speaker and CAIR founder Nihad Awad…
