Just look for the stage…the weather forecast is good – cloudy, breezy but no rain till late at night.

We have a wonderful group of over 30 speakers from over 60 organizations and this will be a gathering where you and your friends and colleagues can make an important statement to Ahmadinejad, the Mullahs back home in Iran, to our ally Israel and to the American media and public – that we protest anyone meeting with him – much less defacto honoring him – and giving legitimacy to his nuclear ambitions and his dire threats against the U.S., Israel and the rest of the world. Join in with us from 5:30 – 8:00 p.m. for a rally that brings together groups not just for tonight – but for work together, interfaith and across all political affiliations, against radical Islam, the Mullahs and Ahmadinejad in the hard months ahead.

Good news on all fronts – there is a 50% probability of rain but it is due to wait until 8:00 – 9:00 p.m. (just after the rally) and the participants list is now greater than 60 organizations!

Thanks to the many organizations joining this effort to protest the dinner meeting between American religious and political leaders and Iranian president Ahmadinejad – now over 50 groups and still growing in numbers all through today. So many organizations are working to educate the public and policymakers on the dire threat posed by Iran’s nuclear ambitions, vows of destruction for Israel and the United States, and barbaric treatment of their own citizens. This is a historic coalition in its breadth and our common sense of a clear and present danger to the world from the current Iranian regime.

WASHINGTON (BP)–The U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom is urging five religious organizations to cancel a Sept. 25 dinner with Iran’s president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, in conjunction with his visit to the United Nations….

Richard Land, president of the Southern Baptist Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission and a USCIRF commissioner, is among those scheduled to speak at a rally against the dinner Sept. 25 outside the Grand Hyatt on East 42nd Street starting at 5:30 p.m. The rally, which is to include a number of organizations such as the Jewish Action Alliance and the Catholic League for Religious and Civil Rights, also is meant to protest Ahmadinejad’s presence at the United Nations and to oppose Iran’s nuclear weapons program and threats against Israel.

USCIRF, which recently warned of Iran’s plans to impose the death penalty for people convicted of so-called apostasy, wrote a letter to each of the organizations, stating that the invitation and the platform for Ahmadinejad would be counterproductive to the groups’ peace goals.

“President Ahmadinejad has manipulated such dialogues repeatedly into a platform for spreading hatred,” Felice D. Gaer, USCIRF’s chair, wrote. “He hosted some of the world’s most notorious deniers of the Holocaust, racists and anti-Semites at a 2006 conference questioning the well-established facts of the Holocaust and calling for the destruction of a member-state of the United Nations.

“The only accomplishment of such an invitation would be to burnish the Iranian leader’s legitimacy and cleanse his reputation as a purveyor of hate,” she added in the letters dated Sept. 19…. more

Update as of 9-22, 37 Groups are now working together and contacting their members for the 9-25 Rally, a coalition built literally in the last week in response to public outrage over the invitation sent to Ahmadinejad to meet with religious and political leaders at the Grand Hyatt Hotel on September 25.
